Prairie Meadows & Polk County Host Celebration to Honor Veterans
Altoona, IA. (November 9, 2022) – Prairie Meadows and Polk County are hosting a Veterans Day Celebration, “Saluting Our Veterans” to honor veterans for their service on November 11 at The Meadows Event Center at Prairie Meadows. Veterans and the general public are invited to a free ceremony and lunch to honor our nation’s heroes.
“We thank all veterans everywhere for their services – an act of generosity that we can never repay. There are countless ways to show our appreciation, but one of the most simple and universal ways to show our sincere gratitude for our freedom is to simply thank a veteran,” said Gary Palmer, CEO & President of Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino. “To our guests, business partners, and colleagues who have proudly served our country, our appreciation extends to you and your families on this Veterans Day.”
Angela Connolly, Polk County Supervisor noted, “Thousands of veterans selflessly served our country, they are family members, friends, and co-workers. They deserve to be honored and this celebration gives us a chance to say thank you.”
The formal program will begin at 11 a.m. with presentation of colors by Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the National Anthem performed by Southeast Polk’s Chamber Ensemble Choir, and pledge of allegiance led by Boy Scout Troop Altoona 383. The celebration also includes remarks from keynote speaker USS Iowa Commander Matthew Powell. Guests will enjoy patriotic music, remarks from local and state officials, and free lunch for all attendees.
