Mandatory Payout for Prairie Meadows Jackpot Pick 5 Set for Monday, July 29, 2024
Going into Friday, July 26 race card, the Jackpot Pool is $125,255
July 26, 2024 - Altoona, IA. Prairie Meadows Racetrack in Altoona, IA will hold a mandatory payout of the Pick 5 jackpot on Monday, July 29, 2024.
The track received approval from the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission to force out the jackpot, which hasn’t been paid since mid-June.
“The Pick 5 jackpot has grown to $125,255 going into the races of Friday, July 26, 2024,” noted Garrick Mallory, Assistant Director of Pari-Mutuels at the Altoona track. “The jackpot was last paid out at $17,109 on Monday, June 24, 2024, just two days after it was paid out at $116,376 on Saturday, June 22, 2024.”
Prairie Meadows races on a Friday through Monday schedule, with post times at 6PM CT on Friday and Saturday and 4 PM CT on Sunday and Monday.
The Pick 5 sequence on Monday, July 29, 2024, covers the final five races of a thirteen-race card closing out the twelfth week of the 2024 season at Prairie Meadows.
The ninth race, the kickoff leg of the Pick 5 sequence, is scheduled for a 7:23 PM CT start. Eight Iowa-bred fillies were signed on at entry time to contest the maiden special weight sprint at six furlongs.
The sequence concludes with the thirteenth race, a $5,000 maiden claiming sprint for fillies and mares at six furlongs. A full field of 11 competitors were signed on for the Monday finale, scheduled for a 9:07 PM CT post time.
Mallory added that in the event the jackpot is paid out during the first three days of the racing week, Prairie Meadows will still hold a mandatory payout of the Pick 5 jackpot as scheduled on Monday, July 29, 2024.
