FUNDRAISING COMPLETE: REICHARDT COMMUNITY CENTER SECURES FINAL ROUND OF DONATIONS

DES MOINES, IOWA — Wednesday, August 16, 2023 — The future Reichardt Community Recreation Center has secured its final round of fundraising commitments, reaching a critical milestone for the project. 

On Monday, August 21, the Des Moines City Council will receive and consider $1 million in donations including one naming agreement for the community recreation center that will be located at the current site of the Grubb Family YMCA. This final round of donations completes the $6 million fundraising goal, paving the way for the project to move forward.

“Our community saw the need for a community recreation center and stepped up to secure the vision for this neighborhood,” Des Moines Parks and Recreation Director Ben Page said. “The Reichardt Community Recreation Center is happening thanks to the generosity of our donors and the actions of our City Council. We’re thrilled because this project is going to provide incredible opportunities to the surrounding neighborhood for generations to come.”
