Sports Park Signage Provides Wayfinding for Guests

Prairie Meadows recently awarded a legacy grant of $150,000 to the new wayfinding signage for James W. Cownie Sports Park. The new entrance sign at SE 14^th St. and Hartford Ave. in Des Moines is now named Prairie Meadows Championship Way in honor of this grant. The sign arches over Hartford Ave., spanning 91’ and is 26’ tall. In addition, cantilevered signage was added to SE 14^th St. with directional arrows for traffic approaching from the north and south. The James W. Cownie Sports Complex is made up of soccer and baseball fields. The soccer complex is home to many local high school and college teams. It features 12 irrigated turf soccer fields with one field considered championship level with seating for 2,000 fans, press box, and video platform. The baseball facility has eight irrigated turf baseball diamonds with scoreboards and covered bleacher seating, batting cages, and concession stand.
