Prairie Meadows Local Connections to Compete in Breeders' Cup

Dennis Albaugh, Prairie Meadows’ Board of Directors member, will have two of his Thoroughbreds competing in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships this weekend at Del Mar in California. In addition to running his global crop protection company, Albaugh LLC, he also, fittingly, owns a racing operation, Albaugh Family Stables LLC.

Albaugh’s current racing success is due to the outstanding performances of Juju’s Map and Giant Game. In her last time out, Juju’s Map, secured a Grade 1 victory in the Darley Alcibiades at Keeneland. If she can follow up her previous performance and earn a second Grade 1 victory at Del Mar in the NetJets Juvenile Fillies race on Friday, she may be named the Two-Year-Old-Filly of the year. Giant Game, Albaugh Family Stables and West Point Thoroughbred’s two-year old colt, will compete in the TVG Juvenile Presented by TAA at the Breeders’ Cup also on Friday. The TVG Juvenile is the richest two-year-old race in North America. It’s a race restricted to colts and geldings, and is often a preview of the next stars of the Triple Crown races.

Albaugh Family Stables has seen much success over the course of their involvement in racing. In 2015, Brody’s Cause won two Grade 1 races at Lexington’s Keeneland Racecourse. In 2016, he went on to win the Blue Grass Stakes and compete in the Kentucky Derby.

Competing alongside the aforementioned horses there are four additional horses that Prairie Meadows racing fans may recognize at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. American Sanctuary, finished second in the 2021 Prairie Gold Juvenile and will be racing alongside Giant Game in the TVG Juvenile. Special Reserve, winner of the 2021 Iowa Sprint will compete in the Qatar Racing Sprint on Saturday. Also, on Saturday, in the Longines Classic, Stilleto Boy winner of the 2021 Iowa Derby and Knicks Go, winner of the 2021 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap will battle it out. Knicks Go is the morning line favorite in the Classic and many believe with a victory will be named Horse of the Year.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships will take place November 5th and 6th at Del Mar Racetrack. Advance wagering on Del Mar’s Friday and Saturday cards will be available starting Thursday, November 4.
