Bonus Purse Incentives for Quarter Horse Races at Prairie Meadows

Prairie Meadows and the Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association announced that any open (non-restricted) overnight race that is carded on the overnight sheet with seven (7) betting interests or more will receive an additional 10% purse bonus added to the current purse structure. These bonus incentives will begin with entries for Friday, September 3 and extend through September 25. The bonus purse incentive will follow the structure of this example: if an open (non-restricted) overnight race with a purse of $10,000 is carded with a field of seven (7) or more betting interests, the new purse of that race will be $11,000 ($10,000 x 10% = $1,000 bonus plus the current purse of $10,000 = $11,000 purse for the race). Restricted (Iowa bred) overnight races, trial races and stake races are not included with this purse bonus incentive.

“In order to reward our loyal stables that remain committed to us through the end of the race meet here at Prairie Meadows and help us build field size for the remainder of the Quarter Horse season, we  feel this purse bonus incentive will show appreciation to our dedicated horse owners, trainers, and jockeys, as well as finishing the race meet with good field sizes for our Quarter Horse races,” stated Thoroughbred & Quarter Horse Assistant Racing Secretary Chad Keller. “We’d like to finish as strong as possible this season with the goal to offer potentially higher purses next season,” Keller added.
