$10,000 Donated to Stead Family Children's Hospital

As a nonprofit organization, Prairie Meadows fulfills its mission by giving back to organizations that support arts and culture, education, economic development, and human services to the state of Iowa. And this spirit of giving is part of one of Prairie Meadows’ employee’s viral fame.

Carson King, an employee with Prairie Meadows’ rapid response team, has embarked on an epic fundraising adventure with the humble beginnings of a hand-written sign asking for money for Busch Light during ESPN’s famed College GameDay broadcast.

King’s donations have topped the $1,000,000 mark as of September 23, including Prairie Meadows’ donation and matching donations from both Anheuser-Busch and Venmo. All proceeds will be going to the University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.

“We are extremely impressed by the great work Carson has done and how well he has represented Prairie Meadows. His philanthropic initiative to help the University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital represents us well and his values match those of our organization,” said Brad Rhines, Prairie Meadows’ Chief Strategic Officer.

King appeared on ABC’s morning show Good Morning America on September 20, and this appearance along with other local Iowa appearances have continued to propel his fundraising efforts.

“Providing dollars for Carson’s fundraiser is important to us as it supports the core of our giving efforts. And to see one of our employees stepping up to better our community makes this donation even more special,” said Julie Stewart, Prairie Meadows’ Director of Community Relations.

King received donations through September 30, 2019. If you would like to donate,  please donate directly to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital at https://uichildrens.org/ways-give
